The really significant result of the lawsuit was that Microsoft went from essentially having no lobby at all — its Washington office was staffed with sales people, not political operatives — to being the biggest single contributor to political activities in the country.
Amazon settles with the owners of another stupid patent. It was just so original of them to let people listen to the music before the sale.
I suggested to a project manager once that Systems should be involved earlier in the sales cycle, before the product is sold. Is that a patentable business innovation, or does it just make sense to involve the people who know the product in the sales cycle?
