School Ties

Ah, nostalgia. My schooling contained one semester of St. John's, during which year I slept through a number of Great Books, played numerous games of RISK and Kingmaker, and had a large vending machine fall on me — which latter incident, I hear, a certain Mr. Gillen, in his role as Perpetual Johnnie, turned into something of a Legend.

What's theater without dinner?

We received tickets for 42nd Street for Christmas this year. The show's tomorrow and we've yet to select a restaurant. If any of my many readers have a favorite haunt nearby, I'd love to hear your suggestions. We had a spicy evening at Shaan before hoofing it to the Ford. The burn from the food didn't last long in the Sixth Avenue wind tunnel.

"Sometime this year, if you are a Yahoo user, you will have the ability to be part of Yahoo broadband all over the country," Terry S. Semel, Yahoo's chief executive, said in an interview yesterday. In particular, he said that cable companies, which until now have tried to promote their own broadband services, are now preparing to open their networks to a variety of offerings. Yahoo, he said, will compete with America Online, Microsoft and EarthLink in providing broadband services over cable. Mr. Semel said Yahoo would explain its broadband strategy at a meeting with investors next month.
