Absolutely

Start here, with the first volume of the University of Chicago's Fundamentalism Project, Fundamentalisms Observed.

Fundamentalist movements can be seen, in one respect, as a continuation of Nativist movements such as National Socialism or Khmer Rouge. They, and the Romantics, are in open revolt against the Age of Reason.

Philosophically, there is little to distinguish one totalitarian sect from another. They are all absolutely correct. There is no possibility of error. And they all want to control me.

Windy Ridges

David Fletcher points out the DOE site for wind power. I've been following coverage of a possible wind farm in Highland County, Virginia, in the local paper, but hadn't looked at any on-line resources on the subject.

This map indicates that Virginia has wind resources consistent with utility-scale production. Several areas of the state are estimated to have good-to-excellent wind resource. These include the Atlantic coast along the Delmarva Peninsula and the Virginia Beach area, the ridge crests in the north-central part of the state, and ridge crests near the borders of West Virginia and North Carolina.

Highland residents are concerned that massive windmills, towering over existing fire and cellular towers, will greatly decrease the value of the viewshed. More power could be drawn from the Chesapeake Bay winds, but construction might be easier in the mountains.
