On Convergence

Krzysztof Kowalczyk talks about subscribing to notifications and receiving them on whatever device is in your pocket, and then doing something with it.

In time communicators will obsolete "pure" mobile phones since they offer the same and much more. At the same time they can take the idea of notifications to the next level.

I don't think of this as device convergence. Instead, it is device generalization: a special-purpose device becomes a general-purpose device that just happens to run one application. A telephone becomes a general-purpose computer running a telephony application.
