I Am Who I Am

Identity is an assertion. I am who I say I am.

When asked, explain yourself.

We are by kin of the clan of Geats,
and Hygelac's own hearth-fellows we.
To folk afar was my father known,
noble atheling, Ecgtheow named.
Full of winters, he fared away
aged from earth; he is honored still
through width of the world by wise men all.

One of These Things is Not Like the Other

  • city of birth
  • birthdate
  • mother's maiden name
  • Social Security number
  • driver's license number
  • my fingerprint
  • SecureID

It seems to me that it is just plain stupid to use public information as the basis of affirming one's identity. It seems to me that is just plain stupid to trust public information to confirm an identity.
